1,862 houses damaged in Bali earthquakes

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said on Tuesday that at least 1,862 houses in the resort island of Bali were damaged by earthquakes measuring 4.8 and 3.8 magnitude last Saturday (Oct 16).

Of the 1,862 houses, BNPB’s spokesman Abdul Muhari said 617 were severely damaged, 1,203 were lightly damaged and 42 were moderately damaged.

Some roads were cut off by rock slides but workers have cleared most of them using excavators.

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Bali early Saturday, followed by an aftershock measuring 3.8.

BNPB recorded that three people died, eight were seriously injured and 74 others were slightly injured.-Xinhua
