PUTRAJAYA: The RM7bil that has been approved for flood mitigation initiatives will not proceed and will undergo a review, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said this was because it was found that it was approved through direct negotiation and not through tender.

“We will have this reviewed so that there will be transparency.

“The amount in question is big. Although the argument is to resolve flood problems, there must be transparency,” he said at a press conference after meeting with senior officials of the Finance Ministry on Tuesday (Dec 6).

Anwar has assumed the post of Finance Minister in his 28-member Cabinet line-up.

The previous administration had announced a Flood Mitigation Plan worth RM15bil until 2030 as a long-term strategy to adapt to climate change facing the country.-The Star
