KUALA LUMPUR: The country registered 1,155 new daily Covid-19 infections yesterday.
The latest figure showed a slight decline compared to Saturday’s 1,645.
The Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal said the new infections raised the total cases in the country to 4,503,734.
Of the total new cases, 1,152 were local transmissions while three were imported.
Selangor contributed the highest daily cases yesterday with 520, while Kuala Lumpur logged 185. All new infections reported in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were local transmissions.
Active Covid-19 cases in the country now stood at 24,393.
Of the total active cases, 23,403 individuals or 95.9 per cent are undergoing home quarantine, while 17 or 0.1 per cent are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.
939 individuals or 3.8 per cent of the active cases are hospitalised.
CovidNow said of the 34 patients in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country, 18 required ventilator support.
More daily recoveries were recorded on Sunday compared to new cases, at 1,975.
On Covid-19 fatalities, the portal reported five deaths including one brought-in-dead case.
The total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country is now 35,665.-NST
