KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry, through the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), today announced a RM7 million subsidy to conduct Covid-19 screening for foreign construction workers.

Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the subsidy is an initiative by the ministry to lessen the financial burden of local industry players while encouraging them to send their foreign workers for Covid-19 screening in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The subsidy of RM50 per person, he said, is available for foreign construction workers registered with CIDB.

“The screening will be managed by CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd through its list of panel clinics for foreign construction workers with CIDB Construction Personnel Registration (certificate).

“The initiative will be conducted at construction sites for applications of more than 30 workers or drive-through using the RTK Antigen method,” he said.

Apart from encouraging foreign construction workers to undergo swab tests, Fadillah hoped the initiative would also encourage unregistered construction workers to register with CIDB.

“I want to also remind construction site operators to ensure their foreign construction workers undergo screening and are free from Covid-19 before they are allowed to resume operations,” he said.

Registration for the Covid-19 screening, he said, could be made at https://admin.cswms.com.my/.
