IPOH: All northbound lanes on the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Tanjung Malim are currently closed after a tanker lorry and an armoured van collided at Km385.9 of the expressway, today.
The lane-closure has created a three kilometre-long traffic jam.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said that they received a distress call on the accident at 12.33pm.
“The accident involved a tanker lorry, which was carrying diesel, while the van was transporting cash.
“One of the passengers of the van died on-the-spot, and two others sustained injuries.
“The tanker lorry driver escaped unhurt,” he said, adding that the rescue operation is ongoing.
According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Traffic’s Twitter account, motorists from the south are advised to exit the highway at Behrang to avoid congestion.
