PETALING JAYA: The government has identified four other top clusters which contributed a spike in Covid-19 cases nationwide, apart from the tabligh gathering in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur last month.

The gathering at the Sri Petaling Mosque in late February has so far been linked to 1,682 patients infected with the virus.

This is followed by another religious event in Kuching, Sarawak (112 cases including two deaths), a wedding in Bandar Baru Bangi (94 cases), as well as an individual who returned from Italy, the country worst hit with the pandemic.

The person is said to have infected 41 others, five of whom died.

The health ministry also identified a sub-cluster of the Sri Petaling gathering – in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan – with 27 cases.

Until yesterday, Malaysia reported 4,119 Covid-19 cases, with 65 deaths. A total of 1,487 people have since been discharged. – FMT
