Man claims trial to outraging modesty of nurse at Covid-19 ward

BUTTERWORTH: A sundry shop trader was today charged with outraging the modesty of a nurse at the Kepala Batas Hospital here last week.

Mohd Ridi, 55, was alleged to have committed the offence against a 24-year-old nurse at the Covid-19 ward on March 8 at 11.30am.

He was charged at the magistrates’ court here with committing assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage her modesty under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

The charge carries a 10-year jail term, a fine or both upon conviction.

Mohd pleaded not guilty to the charge before magistrate M Kalaiarasi.

Kalaiarasi allowed bail at RM3,800 with one surety. Deputy public prosecutor Asma Amira Shahidani prosecuted while Mohd Izad Buqhary Mohd Kamri appeared for the accused.

The court has set April 21 for mention of the case.-FMT
