Man who shot and buried his wife will be charged soon, says Police

JOHOR BARU: The man who allegedly shot his wife dead while she slept will be charged in court soon, Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said.

Police were in the process of completing the investigation paper before forwarding it to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office for further action, he said on Tuesday (March 9).

“We are still waiting for the victim’s DNA report. The family wanted a DNA test to be carried out on the body as they could not identify her.

“Since the family could not identify (the body), the police will wait for the full DNA report, ” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters here.

On March 1, the 43-year-old suspect allegedly killed his wife of eight years at their home in Taman Saujana, Kota Tinggi.

The suspect is said to have shot the 38-year-old mother of their two young children with an air rifle from close range while the victim was sleeping in their bedroom.

A missing persons report was lodged on Monday (March 1) claiming that the victim, a clerk, left their home at around 2am following a disagreement with the suspect.

According to police, after an investigation, they arrested the suspect and a second man, 32.

The husband admitted to shooting the victim before putting her remains in a blue plastic barrel.

The husband, assisted by the other suspect, then took the barrel and buried it in an empty field in Bandar Penawar.

He led police to where the victim was buried at around 10.30am on Thursday (March 4).

Police seized an air rifle, a shotgun, 54 buckshot pellets, a sport utility vehicle, and an excavator that belongs to the main suspect.

The husband and the other suspect are currently under remand until Wednesday (March 10).-The Star
