KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry is optimistic that the final report of the Unified Examination Certificate task force (PPDUEC) will be handed over before the end of the year, the Parliament heard.

Its minister Dr Maszlee Malik (pic) said the report will be compiled with all the transcript copies of each interview that was done during its consultation session with various stakeholders.

“I am optimistic that the full report of the PPDUEC will be handed to the Education Ministry by this year for it to be reviewed before being brought to the Cabinet for a final decision,” he told Datuk Rosol Wahid (PH-Hulu Terengganu) during Question Time.

Rosol had asked the ministry to reveal the study conducted by the PPDUEC taskforce members, and how it will affect the education system as a whole.

Dr Maszlee said the PPDUEC had completed the transcript of 38 sessions from 48 recording sessions which were taken.

“All the transcript of the interviews are important elements in the report to ensure justice for all parties who had given their input.

“Therefore, the preparation of the transcript must be done carefully to ensure that it is accurate,” added Maszlee.

He said the PPDUEC taskforce had consulted 17 individuals, 27 non-governmental organisations, five political parties, 12 government agencies, as well as 14 public and private higher learning institutions to get their feedback on the recognition of the UEC as the pre-requisite to enter public higher learning institutions.

“A total of two town hall meetings were held to involve the youth to get their views on this issue.

“Lawmakers were also invited to give their opinions regarding the recognition of UEC, in a consultation session held in October,” he said. -The Star
