KUALA LUMPUR: The driver of the trailer lorry that collided with a still-under-construction pedestrian bridge has tested positive for drugs.
“Preliminary urine test results showed that he tested positive for methamphetamine.
“He will be remanded under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 by the Dang Wangi Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department,” said City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya when contacted Thursday (March 4).
On updates on the survivors, ACP Zulkefly said that the factory van driver suffered injuries to his shoulder, bruises to his lungs and internal bleeding.
One of the female survivors was injured at her left leg while the other was injured at her right thigh. All are still being treated for their injuries.
The two women who died at the scene have been identified as Nuriana Edwin Abdullah, 47, and Norhayati Abdullah, 42.
On Wednesday (March 3), a trailer lorry collided with the scaffolding of the still-under-construction bridge along the MRR2 Highway near Bandar Tasik Selatan.
That led to the bridge collapsing, cushing a van ferrying factory workers that was beneath it.
It took rescuers almost four hours to extract all five people from the crushed van.- The Star
