KUALA LUMPUR, 29 October 2020 – The former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad has sparked fury after saying Muslims ‘have a right to kill millions of French people’ in the wake of three knife attacks.
In a Twitter thread published within minutes of the deadly attacks, Mahathir Mohamad, 95, blasted French President Emmanuel Macron and France’s ‘history of massacres’. Mahathir, who was the world’s oldest government leader until he quit in February, has ignited a firestorm of outrage, with many accusing the ex-world leader of ‘inciting mass killing’ to his 1.3 million followers.
‘Macron is not showing that he is civilised,’ he wrote. ‘He is very primitive in blaming the religion of Islam and Muslims for the killing of the insulting school teacher. It is not in keeping with the teachings of Islam.
‘But irrespective of the religion professed, angry people kill. The French in the course of their history has killed millions of people. Many were Muslims.
‘Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past.’ He added: ‘Since you have blamed all Muslims and the Muslims’ religion for what was done by one angry person, the Muslims have a right to punish the French.’ – Metro.co.uk
