Ops Dadu Khas: Cops nab 28 people in Johor for illegal gambling

JOHOR BARU: Police here arrested 28 individuals for their involvement in illegal online and four-digit gambling activities in Johor during Ops Dadu Khas on Tuesday (Sept 26).

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspects aged between 19 and 61 were detained at 23 premises believed to be illegal gambling outlets.

“The suspects are 22 local males, two foreign men, two local women and two foreign females,” he said in a statement.

Comm Kamarul Zaman said police also seized RM5,757 cash, 32 mobile phones and seven mobile printers.

He said police had detained 94 individuals aged between 19 and 66 since Ops Dadu Khas which started on Friday (Sept 22) until Tuesday (Sept 26).

Comm Kamarul Mamat said those detained were 79 males of which 74 were local and five foreigner males, eight local women and seven foreign females.

“We have seized RM15,398 cash, 99 mobile phones, 30 units of mobile printers and inspected 69 premises since day one of the operation to eliminate illegal gambling activities in the state,” he added.

Comm Kamarul Mamat said the case was being investigated under Section 4(A)(a) and Section 4(B)(b) of the Open Gambling House Act 1953.19.

He said four investigation papers had been charged under Section 7(2) of the Open Gambling House Act 1953 and seven papers under Section 9(1) of the same Act.
