BUKIT MERTAJAM: Several areas in Seberang Prai especially those in the central district has been reported flooded after continuous rainfall Monday (Oct 21).
In a statement by Penang Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, over 150 people have been evacuated to four centres after their homes were inundated.
“We have placed 96 people from 25 families at the Kampung Permatang Tok Suboh surau and 66 people from 15 families at the Kampung Pisang surau.
“There are 22 others from four families placed at the Bukit Teh community hall and 12 people from three families placed at the Perda Timur hall,” he said.
Penang Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari is expected to hold a press conference at the site later. -The Star
