Slight increase to 78 seen in Covid-19 deaths

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 78 Covid-19 deaths yesterday.

The death toll now stands at 29,427, according to its GitHub database.

This is the second consecutive day the number of casualties has seen a gradual increase. A total of 58 deaths were recorded on Monday and 35 the previous day.

Nineteen of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Kedah topped the list with 19 deaths followed by Sarawak (13), Selangor (12), Kelantan and Sabah (8), Perak (7), Johor (5), Melaka and Terengganu (2) and one each in Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur.

No deaths were reported in Perlis, Pahang, Penang, Putrajaya and Labuan.

As of midnight last night, there were 61,803 active cases, including 542 in intensive care units (ICU), 268 of whom require respiratory assistance.

There were also 5,311 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,425,943

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia now stands at 2,516,255.-FMT
