PETALING JAYA: No talks on seats for the coming state elections have been held with Pakatan Harapan so far, says Muda information chief Luqman Long.

“To date, there have been no negotiations between Muda and Pakatan with regard to strategic cooperation, the number of seats and areas (to be contested).

“I assume the statement by the Selangor Mentri Besar (Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari) is intended to mislead voters which is disrespectful towards Muda,” Luqman said in a statement on Tuesday (June 20).

In a recent Facebook post by PKR’s communications unit, Amirudin – the Selangor Pakatan chairman – was quoted as saying the youth-based party would continue to work with Pakatan in the coming state elections.

The Facebook post also quoted Amirudin as saying that Muda would “represent” Pakatan in the state polls with the number of seats contested to be decided by the coalition’s presidential council.

At a press conference on Monday (June 19), Amirudin said Muda’s participation in the state polls in Selangor with Pakatan remained undecided.

Luqman noted that any announcement with regard to Muda’s preparations for the polls would be done by the party and not by Pakatan.

The Selangor legislative assembly will be dissolved this Friday (June 23), just two days before completing its full term.

The proclamation of the dissolution was signed by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Monday after granting an audience to Amirudin, who sought the Sultan’s consent for the dissolution.

In addition to Selangor, the other states due to hold elections soon are Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
