Kuala Lumpur, 30 Dec (The Capital Post)- The 4th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) will be held virtually from 15 January until 21 January 2021 due to the extension of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Malaysia which affected the operation of local theatres.
It will take place on the festival’s official OTT Platform – MUBI.
The most important factor that caused this action is to avoid audiences and the festival team from being exposed to the risk of the pandemic.
‘I hope to take this opportunity to encourage all Malaysian filmmakers to stay strong and stay safe in this difficult time, and keep moving on to produce more quality films’, said Joanne Goh, the festival chairperson.
The film team of ‘The Code of Happiness’, ‘Many Chickens, Lots of Luck’ and ‘Stranger Than Love’ also attended tonight’s Gala event to celebrate the films.
The event has successfully ended with the first live performance of the festival theme song, performed by Uriah See.
The films will be available to watch on MUBI on the above-mentioned dates, starting 15 January.
Audiences in Malaysia can stream the selection free of charge through a special extended 30-day trial offer from MUBI.
