The Emergency Management Technical Committee established and all the government resources to be used to curb Covid-19

PUTRAJAYA, 26 Jan 2021, (The Capital Post)- Tan Sri Muhd Zuki, the Chief Secretary of Government have released a press statement about the establishment of an Emergency Management Technical Committee and several main focuses approved by the National Security Council (NSC) emergency meeting.

The approved implementations during emergency are Mobilization of Federal and State Public Service resources, Integration of Public and Private Sector Hospital Services capabilities in the period of emergency, Use of National Service Training Center (PLKN) Camp, Camp Bina Negara and other suitable facilities to be used as temporary detention facility as well as a detention depot for the use of the Malaysian Prisons Department, the Immigration Department and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on a regular rent basis.

He also added, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) will collect any views or people’s feedback to give a true picture to Government on the current state of emergency.

KKMM will also act strategically by creating special channels to ensure all information related to implementing emergency management is communicated to the people holistically and effectively.

Few key takeaways from the mobilization of federal and state public service resources are appropriate government buildings and facilities will be used as swab test centers, and seldom used government assets such as department vehicles will be used to support the smooth running of critical service operations to be more integrated and coordinated.

Under the integration of public and private hospitals, labs in governments departments and public universities will be utilized for large scale Covid-19 test and detection, operation of public hospitals including University Hospitals, Army Hospital and Private Hospital will be located hybrid based on the Cluster Hospital concept below Integrated COVID-19 Control Center and optimize existing health resources and expertise for the purpose of patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Use of PLKN and other camps are for ensuring the physical distance of prisoners and detainees in prisons, detention depots as well as lockups in turn prevent transmission of COVID-19 and, The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) will work with security agencies such as the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), PDRM and the Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA) to ensure the tightness of safety.

Police are also currently in talks with the owners of suitable facilities to serve as temporary lockup.

The national secretary also stated that the emergency technical committee will continue to investigate and monitor matters arising from the Emergency Proclamation to be able to give the best recommendation to the MKN Emergency Special Session for consideration.

“I would like to emphasize that Public Service Administration in this emergency period will not be affected and will function as usual to ensure the smooth delivery of government services with compliance of standard operating procedure (SOP)”.- The Capital Post
