SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan is extending walk-in Covid-19 vaccinations in the state for another five days to Sept 30, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said under the programme, those aged above 18 can walk into any of the 11 designated centres in the state for the vaccination.

Health authorities had initially planned for walk-in vaccinations from Sept 20 to 25.

“We managed to inoculate 2,335 individuals on the first two days of the walk-in programme.

“With the extension, we hope more people, including Form Six students, will come forward and get their jabs,” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri here on Wednesday (Sept 22).

In Seremban, walk-in vaccinations are being offered at the Seremban City Council Hall and the Paroi Youth and Sport Complex.

Other centres in the state are Teluk Kemang Youth and Sports Complex in Port Dickson, D’Sury Hall in Jelebu, Jempol Land Office Hall, Jempol Municipal Council Hall, Felda Palong 6 Sports and Community Complex, Dato Bahaman Hall Kuala Pilah, Rembau Health Clinic, Dewan Perdana in Tampin and Dewan Besar in Gemas.

Only those who do not have appointments on their MySejahtera app or have yet to register will be allowed to walk in for the vaccination and those with appointments have to follow the scheduled dates.

Separately, Aminuddin said 29,936 Form 4 and 5 students from 125 schools in the state received the first dose of the vaccine on Tuesday (Sept 21).

Students aged between 12 and 15 will get their shots according to their respective schools in stages.

Negri Sembilan is now under Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

As of Sept 21, almost 94.5% of those above 18 in the state have been fully vaccinated.

On another matter, Aminuddin said to date, only 64 of the 7,224 state employees have refused to be vaccinated.

He said more efforts will be taken to encourage them to get vaccinated as all employees are required to be physically present at work once the state enters Phase Four of the NRP. -The Star
