Golden Mile Plastic Resources Sdn Bhd, represented by its director, pleaded guilty after the charge was read before judge Sharifah Hascindie Syed Omar.

Selangor Environment Department director Datuk Wandi Yadzid Yaakob said inspections were carried out at the company’s premises on June 29, 2020, at Jalan Sungai Jati, Klang.

“The inspection found piles of plastic scrap mixed with fragments of electronic circuit boards, which are classified as scheduled waste under code SW110, at the raw material reception area of the premises.

“Further checks revealed that the company did not have any approval from the Environment Department to place scheduled waste at the premises,” he said in a statement.

Wandi Yadzid said the charge was framed under Section 34B(1)(a) of the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
He said the department had requested the court to impose an appropriate sentence to serve as a deterrent to the company and other industry players against placing scheduled waste without departmental approval.
