KUALA LUMPUR 16 March 2026 (The Capital Post)- Malaysia is developing a set of national standards known as “My AI Standards” to guide the responsible and trustworthy development of artificial intelligence while addressing emerging risks such as deepfakes.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the initiative aims to establish clear guidelines and governance structures to ensure AI technologies are developed and used safely across industries.

He said the standards will help build trust in AI systems while ensuring the technology aligns with national laws, ethical values and public interests.

According to Gobind, the framework will also focus on tackling challenges posed by deepfake technology, which has increasingly been misused for fraud, misinformation and other cybercrimes.

The development of the standards involves collaboration with experts, regulators and industry players to ensure the guidelines are practical and aligned with international best practices.

Gobind added that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s digital governance and ensure AI innovation progresses in a secure and responsible manner.-The Capital Post
