MOSCOW, 20 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Secretary-General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Dato’ Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, attended a Business Luncheon session with Russian tourism industry players organised by Tourism Malaysia Moscow during his working visit to the Russian capital.
The session served as a platform to discuss current developments within the tourism industry while exploring strategic collaboration opportunities to further strengthen Malaysia’s tourism promotion efforts in the growing Russian market.
According to MOTAC, Malaysia recorded 56,571 visitor arrivals from Russia between January and March 2026, representing a 12.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Also present at the session were Tourism Malaysia Moscow Director Zulkifli Mohamed, representatives from the local tourism industry and Tourism Malaysia’s strategic partners in Russia.

MOTAC expressed hope that the strong relationship between Tourism Malaysia and tourism industry partners in Russia would continue to be strengthened in efforts to increase Russian tourist arrivals to Malaysia.
