MOSTI, Sarawak Strengthen STI Collaboration

KUCHING, 10 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is strengthening its collaboration with the Sarawak Government to accelerate the development of science, technology and innovation (STI) initiatives across the state.

MOSTI Secretary-General Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, accompanied by Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Science Culture) Dato’ Ruziah Shafei, paid a courtesy visit to Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development YB Dato’ Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn on Tuesday.

According to a Facebook post by MOSTI, the meeting aimed to enhance strategic cooperation between the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government in advancing the STI agenda while expanding the implementation of high-impact programmes at the state level.

Among the key issues discussed were technology development initiatives, including funding opportunities through MOSTI grants, the adoption of locally developed research and development products under the MySTI programme, the MYStartup initiative, and financing support for start-ups through Cradle Fund.

The Sarawak Government welcomed the discussions and expressed its commitment to further strengthening strategic collaboration with MOSTI in efforts to enhance the state’s science, technology and innovation ecosystem.

The meeting was also attended by senior officials from MOSTI and the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), as well as representatives from Sarawak Skills and the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre.

The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by both governments to leverage innovation, technology development and entrepreneurship as key drivers of economic growth and talent development in Sarawak and across Malaysia. – The Capital Post.
