IPOH, 8 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, officiated the opening of Kem Sultan Nazrin Shah, the new base for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) 69 Commando unit, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the nation’s security capabilities.
Also in attendance were Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar, Raja Dihilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain and Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, and Internal Security and Public Order Department Director CP Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri were among the dignitaries present.
The ceremony began with Sultan Nazrin inspecting a guard of honour comprising three officers and 102 personnel from the 69 Commando unit, led by DSP Muhammad Ridhuan Basri.
In his speech, Saifuddin said the opening of Kem Sultan Nazrin Shah symbolises the MADANI Government’s continued commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the nation’s security forces in addressing increasingly complex and evolving security challenges.
He said the new camp reflects the government’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure, facilities and training environments to ensure the force remains fully prepared to safeguard national security and public order.

The camp features 53 key facilities supporting operational, training, logistics, administrative and welfare requirements, including a Close Quarter Battle Complex, Indoor Shooting Range, Aquatic Training Complex, Combat Tower and a 1.2-kilometre firing range, one of the longest and most advanced in the country.
The event also featured a live marksmanship demonstration by 69 Commando personnel and a parachute display involving six members of the elite unit, showcasing their operational capabilities and professionalism.
The ceremony concluded with Sultan Nazrin signing the official plaque to mark the opening of Kem Sultan Nazrin Shah.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Polis Diraja Malaysia ( Royal Malaysia Police ), the new facility will further strengthen the operational readiness and professionalism of the 69 Commando unit in carrying out high-risk operations to safeguard national security. -The Capital Post
