MOSTI outlines semiconductor strategy in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang outlined the government’s efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s semiconductor ecosystem during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT) session at the Parliament of Malaysia today.

Chang responded to a question raised by Kubang Pasu Member of Parliament Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman bin Ku Ismail regarding the role of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in advancing the country’s semiconductor industry.

During the session, MOSTI highlighted the role of the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE), including the Malaysia Advanced Packaging Consortium (MAPC), in supporting Malaysia’s ambition to capture seven per cent of the global advanced packaging market for the semiconductor ecosystem.

The ministry said MAPC plays an important role in strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness within the global value chain by developing advanced packaging capabilities and promoting high-value activities in the semiconductor sector.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), the ministry is confident that MAPC will not only contribute towards producing Malaysia’s first advanced packaging technology but also serve as a catalyst for transforming the national semiconductor industry towards higher value-added activities. – The Capital Post.
