PETRA, US Discuss Energy Cooperation and Climate Initiatives

PUTRAJAYA, 4 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector during a courtesy visit by United States Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Thomas DiNanno.

PETRA Deputy Secretary-General (Energy) Mareena Mahpudz received Thomas DiNanno at Menara PETRA, where discussions focused on enhancing strategic cooperation in energy, particularly in the development of renewable energy and efforts to address climate change.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through collaboration in areas of mutual interest to support sustainable energy development.

Also present were PETRA Strategic and International Division Secretary Dr. Safuwan Samah, MyPower Chief Executive Officer Asdirhyme Abdul Rasib, and senior officials from PETRA’s Energy Sector.
