Seven New Classrooms to Accommodate 245 Pupils in Melaka by 2027

MELAKA, 9 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Seven additional classrooms are being built at two schools in Melaka to accommodate up to 245 pupils for the 2027 school session.

Deputy Education Minister YB Wong Kah Woh inspected the implementation of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Additional Classroom Project for the 2027 Year One intake at SK Taman Merdeka and SJKT Merlimau.

The project involves the construction of five additional classrooms at SK Taman Merdeka and another two at SJKT Merlimau.

Once completed, the seven classrooms will provide additional capacity for 245 pupils ahead of the 2027 school session.

The Ministry of Education (KPM) said the initiative forms part of its continued efforts to address rising enrolment and overcrowding while providing pupils with a safe, comfortable and conducive learning environment.

The project is also aligned with the aspirations of the Malaysia Education Plan (RPM) 2026–2035.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the additional classrooms are part of ongoing efforts to improve school capacity and learning facilities in response to increasing enrolment. – The Capital Post
