CYBERJAYA, 11 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor (SMSS) and Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah (SAS) emerged champions of the 51st Prime Minister’s Cup Debate Competition 2026 in the Malay and English categories respectively.
Education Minister YB Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek and the Ministry of Education’s (KPM) senior management attended the finals at Dewan Tun Canselor, Multimedia University (MMU) in Cyberjaya on Thursday.
SMSS was crowned champion in the Malay Language category, while SAS secured the title in the English Language category.
The prestigious competition, part of the longstanding tradition of Malaysia’s Fully Residential Schools (SBP), provides a platform for students to sharpen their critical thinking, debating and communication skills while building confidence.

This year’s edition also introduced a new challenge trophy, symbolising the prestige and continuing legacy of the Prime Minister’s Cup Debate Competition.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the competition continues to develop students’ ability to think critically, present arguments effectively and communicate confidently. – The Capital Post
