KUALA LUMPUR, 11 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia is advancing its energy transition and regulatory reforms to support economic growth, strengthen investor confidence and align the energy sector with the country’s broader economic transformation agenda.
The Ministry of Economy’s Energy Division participated in Energy Regulatory Insights (ERI) 2026, held from 8 to 9 September under the theme “Energy Reform, Powering Growth”.
Organised by the Energy Commission, ERI 2026 was officiated by Economy Minister YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah Haji Mohd Nasir.
Energy Division Director Dr. Afiza Idris delivered a special keynote titled “Malaysia’s Energy Transition Progress and Economic Transformation Agenda”, highlighting the country’s energy transition progress and priorities and their alignment with Malaysia’s economic transformation agenda.
Energy Division Deputy Director II Dr. Puteh Soraya A. Rahman also participated as a panellist in the session “Benchmarking Malaysia’s Energy Transition Progress”.

The session examined Malaysia’s progress against regional and international practices and discussed support mechanisms to strengthen regulatory excellence.
Meanwhile, Chief Assistant Director Encik Aszmy Mahmood Yusof Mohamed moderated the session “Powering Growth Through Energy Reform”, which focused on the role of energy reforms in supporting economic growth and investor confidence, while drawing on international implementation experiences.
