KUALA LUMPUR, 1 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Gulf Air has resumed direct flights between Bahrain and Kuala Lumpur, strengthening air connectivity and creating more tourism opportunities between Malaysia and the Gulf region.

The first flight following the resumption of the route arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 30 September after departing Bahrain on 29 September.

The service is operated using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a capacity of 282 passengers.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) said the resumed route would improve access for travellers from Bahrain and the wider Gulf region to Malaysia.

Malaysia currently has 126 weekly flight frequencies from the Middle East, providing a total capacity of 41,608 seats per week.

MOTAC said stronger connectivity would support efforts to attract more visitors from Bahrain and neighbouring Gulf markets, particularly through Malaysia’s Muslim-friendly tourism, family attractions, shopping, gastronomy, health and wellness, nature and cultural heritage offerings.

The resumed service also supports Malaysia’s tourism promotion efforts in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026–2027.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia, the return of Gulf Air’s direct Bahrain–Kuala Lumpur service is expected to strengthen tourism links and improve access between Malaysia and the Gulf region – The Capital Post
