Datuk Wan Hassan Retires After 31 Years in PDRM

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – CP Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad has retired from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) after more than 31 years of service, marking the end of a career spanning policing, investigations, training, management and administration.

A ceremonial Beating Retreat was held at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre on 2 October in conjunction with his retirement.

Inspector-General of Police IG Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Hj. Mohd Khalid Hj. Ismail attended the ceremony together with senior PDRM leadership and personnel to recognise Wan Hassan’s service and contributions to the force.

Wan Hassan joined PDRM on 1 July 1995 and went on to hold several senior positions during his career.

Among them were Director of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, Deputy Director of Management (Administration) at the Bukit Aman Management Department, and Commissioner of Police of the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (Research and Development) at Bukit Aman.

Earlier in the day, a handover ceremony was held between Wan Hassan and CP Dato’ Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, who was appointed as the new Commissioner of Police of the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (Research and Development).

The handover at Bukit Aman was witnessed by Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid.

PDRM said Wan Hassan’s retirement marked the conclusion of a long career involving leadership and management responsibilities at both departmental and contingent levels.
