Malaysia, Indonesia Strengthen Labour Cooperation

JAKARTA, 6 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Indonesia are strengthening cooperation on labour matters, with particular focus on issues involving Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.

Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan attended a dinner hosted by Indonesia’s Minister for the Protection of Migrant Workers, Mukhtarudin, in Jakarta on 5 October.

The engagement was held in conjunction with Ramanan’s official visit to Jakarta from 5 to 6 October, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries in employment-related matters.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to deepen mutual understanding and discuss migrant worker issues through continued and constructive engagement.

Senior management officials from the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) were also present.

KESUMA said close Malaysia–Indonesia cooperation in labour affairs reflects the shared commitment of both countries to ensuring the welfare, protection and interests of workers remain a priority.
