KUALA LUMPUR, 15 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) have formalised a partnership to strengthen second-career opportunities for Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel and veterans through the MyBakat Veteran initiative.
The cooperation agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (14 October) by KESUMA Secretary-General Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof and MINDEF Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.
The signing was witnessed by Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Coordinated by TalentCorp, the initiative aims to benefit more than 15,000 serving personnel and veterans by 2030 through skills development, competency recognition and job matching based on industry requirements.
With approximately 5,000 to 7,000 ATM personnel completing their military service annually, the programme emphasises career preparation at least two years before retirement to support a smoother transition into civilian employment.
The ceremony also marked the launch of a Skills Recognition Pathway in collaboration with the Department of Skills Development (JPK).
