PETALING JAYA: The investigation into the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim has never been closed or stopped, says Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed.

Commenting on the inquest findings that ruled Muhammad Adib’s death was caused by two or more persons unknown, the Bukit Aman CID director said investigations were still ongoing.
“We will abide by the inquest’s ruling by the Coroner’s Court in Shah Alam today (Sept 27).
“We will also await further instructions from the Attorney General’s chambers,” he said in a statement.
Coroner judge Rofiah Mohamad read her judgment after 41 days of inquest proceeding.
“The blunt chest trauma is not caused by himself (perbuatan sendiri) or (an) accident but a criminal act by two or more persons unknown,” she said.

The verdicts that could have been reached by the Coroner’s Court were an open verdict, a verdict of misadventure, or death by persons or persons unknown.
The inquest, which sought to determine the events leading to Muhammad Adib receiving fatal injuries on the early morning of Nov 27,2018, saw 30 witnesses being called to give their statements.
Adib, 24, became critically injured after he and his team members from the Subang Jaya fire station responded to an emergency call at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple where a riot was taking place.
The fireman was taken to SJMC after he was found injured, before being transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further treatment, where he later died on Dec 17, at 9.41pm. – The Star
