KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu was at Bukit Aman only as a witness says Ramkarpal Singh (pic).

“I would like to make it very clear that he had his statement recorded as a witness. This was what was told to us, ” he said.

Ramkarpal added that Liu gave his statement willingly and said that it was a very short one.

“He gave his statement willingly and it was a very short one. As of now, it’s settled as the officer did not say if he is required to return, ” he said when met outside Bukit Aman on Monday (Dec 9).

Ronnie was at Bukit Aman to give his statement after he attended a recent meeting in Kajang allegedly involving former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) members.

Ronnie arrived around 2.30pm and was joined by the Bukit Gelugor MP, who is his lawyer.

He was seen leaving around 4pm.

Previously, Ronnie had stated on Facebook that he had been invited to speak at the event which was touted as being held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Hat Yai Peace Accord.

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said that the authorities were looking into whether the gathering was an attempt to “revive the old party’s ideology” in the country.

The case is being investigated under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for making, publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or report with the intent to incite the community to commit any offence against any other community. -The Star
