Maybank Names Chua Bee Geok as New Group Chief Operations Officer

KUALA LUMPUR — Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has announced the appointment of Chua Bee Geok as its new group chief operations officer, effective April 1, 2026. She succeeds Alan Lau Chee Kheong, who is retiring after 43 years with the bank.

In her new role, Chua, 53, will oversee the group’s operations across trade, treasury, and payments, with a focus on improving the end-to-end customer experience and driving growth across ASEAN in wealth management, payments, transaction banking, and corporate and investment banking.

She will report directly to the president and group chief executive officer of Maybank and serve as a member of the group executive committee.

Chua brings over 25 years of banking experience covering finance, risk, operations, and transformation. During her more than a decade with Maybank, she has led numerous high-impact programs that enhanced the group’s resilience and scalability, including end-to-end banking transformation under the M25+ strategy.

Additionally, she spearheaded a multi-country initiative to implement a fully digital trade solution across Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, streamlining processes and improving the overall customer experience.
