JERTIH, March 9, 2026 (The Capital Post) — A teenage boy who was reported missing while travelling to Cameron Highlands with his family has been found dead in bushes by the roadside near Kampung Bukit Jeruk, close to Kampung Beting Lintang.

Besut police chief Supt Rozaime Ab Rahim said members of the public discovered the body along with a motorcycle at about 6.40pm on Saturday.

Police believe the body is that of Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen Ahmad Azhar, 19, who had been reported missing by his family earlier on Friday morning.

Initial investigations suggest the victim may have died that night after the Yamaha R15 motorcycle he was riding skidded while he was travelling.

The body was taken to Besut Hospital for identification by family members and for a post-mortem examination.

Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen had been travelling with his family from Kampung Batin, Seberang Takir, to Cameron Highlands for a holiday. He was riding the motorcycle while his parents and other family members travelled in a car.

Closed-circuit television footage later showed the teenager stopping at a petrol station in Kampung Beting Lintang at about 1.38am on Friday, which was the last time he was seen before he went missing.— The Capital Post
