ALOR GAJAH 10 March 2026 (The Capital Post)- EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) aims to assemble between 120 and 180 units of the MG S5 electric vehicle (EV) per month at its Melaka facility as the group ramps up local production of the model.
The automotive parts manufacturer said the assembly will take place at its plant in Pegoh, Melaka, through a collaboration with SAIC Motor Malaysia, which distributes the MG brand locally. The MG S5 EV is expected to be the first fully electric vehicle assembled at the facility.
EPMB noted that the local assembly initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s EV manufacturing ecosystem while enhancing the availability of more competitively priced electric vehicles in the domestic market.
The company added that the localisation programme will also involve collaboration with local vendors, including the potential assembly of battery packs and other key components, as it seeks to increase local content in the production process.
