PETALING JAYA 12 March 2026 (The Capital Post)- A forest fire that broke out on a hillside in Taman Puncak Jalil, Seri Kembangan, has been fully extinguished following an overnight firefighting operation by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.
The department’s assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said the blaze was completely put out at 3.48am on Thursday after firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.
Authorities received an emergency call about the incident at 4.12pm on Wednesday, with the first fire engine from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene roughly nine minutes later.
Initial estimates indicated that the fire involved nearly one hectare of hillside forest near the Putrajaya Toll Plaza along the KL–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX). However, the blaze spread during firefighting efforts and eventually affected an area of about 37 acres.
The operation involved personnel from several fire stations, including Seri Kembangan, Cyberjaya, Puchong, Jalan Penchala and Subang Jaya. Firefighters used hose lines, water jets from fire engines and firebeaters to contain the flames and prevent further spread.
Due to the challenging terrain of the hilly area, the operation was divided into six sectors to improve coordination, while drone units were deployed to assist with aerial monitoring of the fire.
A total of 27 firefighters were involved in the operation, and authorities confirmed that no casualties or structural damage were reported during the incident.-The Capital Post
