KUALA LUMPUR 29 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – A military officer who is being investigated in connection with a suspected drink-driving incident will remain in custody after the court approved an extension of his remand until April 30 to facilitate further investigations.
The extension was granted following an application by investigating officers who informed the court that additional time was required to complete key aspects of the probe, including gathering witness statements and reviewing relevant evidence linked to the case.
The officer was initially detained after he was allegedly involved in an incident believed to have occurred under the influence of alcohol, prompting authorities to open an investigation under provisions related to road safety and criminal conduct.
Court proceedings were held earlier today, where investigators outlined the need for continued detention to ensure the investigation could be conducted thoroughly without interruption, while also preventing any interference with ongoing inquiries.

The case has drawn public attention due to the officer’s position within the military, with authorities stressing that the investigation will be carried out in accordance with legal procedures regardless of rank or background. -The Capital Post
