CUPERTINO 29 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of its photo editing capabilities in iOS 27, introducing a range of advanced artificial intelligence tools aimed at enhancing the overall user experience.
According to technology industry reports, the upcoming update will feature a new section within the Photos app called “Apple Intelligence Tools,” bringing together several AI-powered editing functions under a dedicated menu.
Among the expected features are “Extend,” which allows users to expand images beyond their original frame using generative AI, “Enhance,” designed to automatically improve lighting and colour balance, and “Reframe,” which enables users to adjust image perspective even after a photo has been captured.
Apple is also believed to be improving its existing “Clean Up” feature, which removes unwanted objects from images, with greater accuracy and more seamless editing performance compared to earlier versions.

Although the AI-powered upgrades are expected to become one of the headline features of iOS 27, reports indicate that some tools are still facing technical challenges during internal testing, which could lead to certain functions being delayed or refined before the official release.
The iOS 27 update is expected to be officially unveiled during Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) before rolling out to users later this year, further strengthening the company’s position in the increasingly competitive AI technology landscape. -The Capital Post
