Seremban 5 May 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has instructed its party machinery in Negeri Sembilan to remain on high alert amid the possibility of unexpected state elections, following recent political developments in the state.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the directive was issued after discussions within the party’s central leadership, which reviewed the current political situation and the potential for state assemblies in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor to be dissolved earlier than expected.

He said the move is a precautionary step to ensure the party is fully prepared should snap polls be called, stressing that readiness is essential given the evolving political landscape.

At the same time, DAP reaffirmed its support for Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and reiterated its position against any immediate leadership change in the state government.

Party leaders also emphasised respect for constitutional processes and the role of the monarchy in state governance, noting that any decisions regarding dissolution must follow legal and constitutional procedures.

The directive comes amid heightened political speculation in several states, with parties increasingly preparing for the possibility of early elections even before official announcements are made.-The Capital Post
