KUALA LUMPUR, 21 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is strengthening digital infrastructure across ASEAN as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate regional digital transformation and enhance economic integration.

According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the initiative focuses on improving digital connectivity, strengthening cloud and data infrastructure, and supporting cross-border digital development within the ASEAN region.

MDEC said the efforts are aligned with Malaysia’s ambition to position itself as a regional digital hub, particularly in key areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven innovation. The initiative also aims to enhance digital readiness among ASEAN member states while encouraging stronger investment in digital ecosystems.

The organisation noted that robust digital infrastructure is essential in supporting emerging technologies and enabling seamless cross-border digital services, which are increasingly important for regional competitiveness and long-term economic growth.
