UM Honours World-Class Talent at ACUM 2026 Ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Universiti Malaya (UM) Chancellor Nazrin Shah of Perak graced the 2026 Universiti Malaya Excellence Awards (ACUM) ceremony held here yesterday.

His Royal Highness was received by Higher Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, UM Pro-Chancellors Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Dr. Aishah Ong, Tan Sri Zainun Ali and Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini, as well as UM Vice-Chancellor Dato’ Seri Prof. Ir Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman.

The prestigious event, now in its 14th edition, was held in conjunction with the university’s 121st anniversary celebration as Malaysia’s oldest higher education institution.

During the ceremony, the Sultan of Perak presented 52 award categories to 64 recipients comprising academics, researchers, university staff and industry strategic partners.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, the achievements reflect the capability of local talent to continue competing and gaining recognition at the global level through a sustainable and competitive higher education ecosystem.

Also present were UM Board of Directors Chairman Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar, members of the university’s senior management, academics, award recipients and invited guests.
