KUALA LUMPUR, 5 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Arthur Joseph Kurup officially launched the Energy Transition and Sustainability Academy (ETSA) during The Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCon26) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The conference, organised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad, brought together policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss the nation’s energy transition agenda and sustainable development goals.
The event also featured a keynote address by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the exchange of agreements for renewable energy projects aimed at supporting Malaysia’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for governments to adapt to technological advancements and the demands of globalisation, particularly in light of ongoing global energy challenges. He stressed the importance of exploring renewable energy solutions that are both sustainable and resilient.
As part of ETCon26, Arthur Joseph Kurup launched ETSA, an initiative established by TNB Integrated Learning Solution (ILSAS) to strengthen workforce development and enhance skills in energy transition and sustainability-related fields.

The minister also witnessed the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between TNB ILSAS, the Malaysia Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) and the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB), aimed at accelerating the development of green talent and human capital in Malaysia.
Also present at the event were Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, NRES Secretary-General Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, ILSAS Managing Director Zulkifli Salahudin, senior representatives from MGTC and other government agencies.
The ministry said the initiative reflects Malaysia’s commitment to building a skilled workforce capable of supporting the nation’s energy transition and long-term sustainability agenda.
