LANGKAWI, June 8, 2026 (The Capital Post) – According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Deputy Secretary-General (Security) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman, conducted a working visit and border security monitoring operation across Pulau Langkawi to assess the effectiveness of security measures and operational readiness in the area.
The visit included inspections of the proposed site for the development of a Forward Operation Base (FOB), the temporary General Operations Force (GOF) control post at Teluk Ewa, and Telaga Harbour. The inspections were aimed at evaluating the preparedness and effectiveness of border control operations in safeguarding the nation’s security.
During the visit, attention was also given to land and coastal security measures, particularly efforts to combat smuggling activities and prevent leakages involving controlled goods.

A meeting was subsequently held with security agencies and representatives of the Kedah State Government to discuss the proposed development of the FOB for maritime enforcement agencies. Discussions also covered the proposed procurement of container facilities for the GOF at Teluk Ewa, as well as current security issues related to Pulau Langkawi.
KDN remains committed to strengthening national border security through an integrated approach involving enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders.
