Perabot MADANI & Kalvi MADANI boost access to quality education for SJKT students

Johor Bahru, 23 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), is strengthening its human capital development agenda with the launch of the Perabot MADANI Initiative and KALVI MADANI Programme, benefiting tens of thousands of pupils in Tamil National-Type Schools (SJKT) nationwide.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Human Resources Minister, YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, and attended by Education Minister, YB Puan Fadhlina binti Sidek, reflecting strong inter-ministerial cooperation in enhancing the country’s education quality.

Under the Perabot MADANI Initiative, a total allocation of RM12.8 million has been channelled to 361 SJKT schools across the country to provide more comfortable and conducive learning facilities. The initiative is expected to benefit nearly 40,000 students as well as more than 5,000 teachers nationwide.

At the same time, the KALVI MADANI Programme, with an allocation of RM8 million, will benefit more than 10,000 students from B40 households through free tuition classes, academic excellence programmes, and comprehensive learning support aimed at improving overall student performance.

The programme focuses on core subjects including Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and Science, while also incorporating digital learning support to strengthen educational access and performance outcomes.

In his speech, YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan emphasised that education remains a key foundation in building a competitive society and ensuring that no group is left behind in the nation’s development.

Also present at the event were KESUMA Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International), YBrs. Dr. Hj. Mohd Shaharin Bin Umar, and MITRA Director-General, YBrs. Encik Raveendran Nair a/l K. Kesavan Nair.
