Putrajaya, 23 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Kelancaran perjalanan harian rakyat, aspek keselamatan pengguna jalan raya serta pembangunan sistem pengangkutan awam moden menjadi keutamaan dalam perancangan infrastruktur negara, termasuk di Sarawak.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Works Minister, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, he recently chaired a meeting with the Sarawak Ministry of Transport at the Ministry of Works to discuss key matters involving road infrastructure coordination, particularly along Federal routes and the implementation of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project.

Among the key issues discussed was the Weight Restriction Order involving the ART alignment that will pass through Federal roads in Sarawak. The discussion also covered the proposed ART routes along these Federal road corridors, aimed at ensuring proper technical coordination, safety compliance and smooth traffic flow once the system is operational.

The meeting also reviewed the design of road signage that will be used when ART begins operations, with emphasis placed on safety standards, consistency, and public understanding to support road user awareness.

In addition, the ART team presented a traffic simulation of ART movement through signalised intersections along state roads, which was shared for further assessment and joint evaluation between stakeholders.

YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi expressed appreciation for the close cooperation between the private sector, the Sarawak State Government, and the Federal Government, noting that such coordination is essential to ensure infrastructure development delivers meaningful benefits to the people, including road users, public transport passengers, local communities, and the broader economy.

These discussions reflect ongoing efforts to ensure that infrastructure planning and public transport development are well-aligned, safe, and future-ready as Sarawak advances its modern mobility agenda. – The Capital Post
