Malaysia, Singapore Deepen STI Cooperation

VIENTIANE, 26 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Singapore have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) through a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the 22nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (AMMSTI-22) in Lao PDR.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang held a bilateral meeting with Singapore’s Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Gan Siow Huang.

The meeting reinforced the longstanding friendship between Malaysia and Singapore while reaffirming both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation in strategic areas of science, technology and innovation.

Both ministers exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in technology transfer and research commercialisation, space technology, civil nuclear energy development, talent development and capacity building, as well as strengthening cooperation between technical agencies and research institutions.

The discussions also explored opportunities to deepen regional collaboration through ASEAN initiatives, particularly in advancing innovation ecosystems and emerging technologies to support sustainable economic growth.

MOSTI said it remains committed to working closely with Singapore to foster impactful strategic partnerships that drive innovation, strengthen regional resilience and deliver tangible benefits to the people of both countries. – The Capital Post.
