MOTAC Reviews Tourism Upgrades in Ipoh

IPOH, 29 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure through ongoing development and upgrading projects aimed at enhancing visitor experiences in Ipoh.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia, MOTAC Secretary-General Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot conducted a working visit with Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah to Gunung Lang Recreational Park and Kinta Riverwalk.

The visit was held to inspect the progress of tourism development projects funded by MOTAC while reinforcing strategic collaboration with the Ipoh City Council to enhance local tourism products.

Among the projects reviewed were the completed 2023 restoration and upgrading works involving the Rumah Kutai and public toilets at Gunung Lang Recreational Park, the ongoing 2026 upgrading of two bridges at Kinta Riverwalk, as well as the Rolling Plan 4 under the 12th Malaysia Plan to enhance the Kinta Riverwalk tourism area, which is expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.

MOTAC said the visit reflects the ministry’s continued commitment to ensuring tourism development projects are implemented effectively to improve public facilities, strengthen the appeal of tourism destinations and support the growth of Malaysia’s tourism industry. – The Capital Post.
