KUALA LUMPUR 3 July 2026, (The Capital Post) – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a brief meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Valiollah Mohammadi, on the sidelines of the 39th Asia Pacific Roundtable, where discussions also touched on bilateral relations and diplomatic engagements between both nations.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Iran following the passing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, expressing sympathy over the national loss and acknowledging Iran’s period of mourning.
He also explained that he was unable to attend the official memorial ceremony due to unavoidable official commitments, and noted that Malaysia was represented at the event by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu, who attended on behalf of the Malaysian government and people.
